Man Loses Control After Wife Buries Her Dead Illegitimate Child On His Land
The drama was set in Kayunga District after a family man lost control upon discovering that his wife buried her illegitimate child on his land.
Noble Nakiranda is accused of having a secret affair with a laborer from Busoga and bearing a child while having marital problems with her husband, Bernard Walugembe Mande.
The estranged couple who share 9 children had taken a break because the husband joined a piggery business, contrary to Nakiranda’s faith as a practicing Muslim. Despite the disagreements and separation, Walugembe always took care of his home in terms of basic needs and occasionally visited his wife and children.
This particular day, he came home and decided to take a stroll around his land when he discovered an unfinished grave in his garden. He went on to alert the neighbors who dug up the shallow grave and discovered remains of a baby who they suspected had died shortly after birth.
The baby was presumed to have been buried three weeks ago, the same period that Nakiranda spent away from her home. The angry Walugembe believed he was not the father of the new born that they had considered to be their tenth child, because it had secretly been buried at the edge of their land and away from the family grave site, something that contradicts their tradition. Upon learning about this, he tried to kill his wife before she was whisked away and taken to police.
“She should dig out her baby’s body and give it to the owner. I do not have any other issues with her aside from that. Maybe I will forgive her and bring her back into my home.” The angry Walugembe demanded.
While in police custody, Nakiranda in her defense revealed that it was a mistake having a child with another man outside her marriage.
“By mistake I got pregnant by this man. I did not intend. I also do not know how he found out because he is never home.” She said.
