Google Axes 453 Employees In India
Pichai’s axe on Thursday night landed in India where 453 workforce across all the Google’s department were laid off.
Sanjay Gupta, Google’s India’s vice president sent mails to 453 employees notifying them of the abrupt end of their work contract at Google.
This comes a month later where Google’s workforce at San Francisco headquarters in USA were laid off.
Sundar Pichai CEO, Google and Alphabet said he would be laying off 12,000 employees globally across the Google’s department in his rigorous review to adapt to new tech changes.
According to Business Line, Google’s head in India yesternight sent mails to 453 employees after receiving an order from Pichai.
The axed employees however will be remunerated and paid some stipends in line with India’s labour tribunal acts and employee acts stipulated in it’s labour constitution.
In the previous information Sundar posted on Google’s website, he said the roles being eliminated reflects the rigorous review being institutionalized in the San Francisco based firm.
Recently, Mr Pichai announced the launch of Google chatbot, Bard which will be a rival to ChatGPT, Microsoft’s chatbot.
Bard, is currently under tests before put into use by clients. Sundar on the day of axing workforce in USA, he said he has invested much into AI which will replace some workforce that have less value to the company.
