Eddy Kenzo Decries Unfair Treatment for Uganda Artists Over Platnumz at Ntungamo Show

Eddy Kenzo(L) urged Uganda event organisers to treat local artists fairly with external artists( like Platnumz- R)/ courtesy.
Uganda’s celebrated artiste Edrisah Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, has criticised event organisers at the recent Coffee Marathon event at Ntungamo for berating local artists over Diamond Platnumz.
Speaking to a local media outlet in Uganda, Eddy Kenzo revealed that event organisers gave Diamond Platnumz special treatment, unlike him and other Ugandan local artists.
Eddy Kenzo explained that though they shared the stage with Platnumz, event organisers hired a private jet for Platnumz with special recognition compared to the local artists.

“There was a lot of disorganisation by the organisers. We were all to perform on the same stage, and despite him (Diamond Platnumz) being the guest performer, the organisers overhyped him more than all of us.” Eddy Kenzo complained.
He added that after the event, he and other local artists were given a few privileges to fuel their cars while Diamond travelled by air.
“They hired a private jet for him and gave us a little money for fuel. The showing off (by Platnumz) was too much at the cost of our industry. It’s like the rest of us were not artists. It was very demeaning and disrespectful.” He added.

However, Kenzo clarified that he wasn’t speaking out of jealousy but called for equity and fair treatment for local artists with external guest singers.
“I’m not speaking from a place of jealousy, but we are also worth being on that show and enjoying special treatment, because if I wasn’t worth it, you can’t book me to that.” He clarified.
