KDF Airforce Ferries Students From Boni Area To Join Junior Secondary

Students from Boni schools within Mararani, Mangai, Basuba and Milimani in Lamu County were on Thursday 16th Feb  airlifted by Kenya Defence Airforce Chopper from their respective villages to join Arid Zone Junior secondary school in Mokowe. This was courtesy of Operation Amani Boni (OAB) that is currently going on in Boni Forest

 

The students will  join their colleagues after completing the first level of the new Education System, CBC.

 

 

”The students were received at Mokowe airstrip by the local administration officials led by the area Chief, Mr Khalifa Alwy and parents. They thanked KDF for their continued support not only in the Education sector but also in other spheres of life with sole aim of uplifting the social status of the marginalised group” Read a statement from KDF Official page.

 

“I’m grateful for the support that you’ve accorded us since your troops set foot in Lamu, I hope this zeal will continue as long as you continue to serve in this region. ” Said one of the parents, Mr Bwanamkuu Ali.

 

According to Operation Amani Boni  leadership, the airlifting program of students is part of local populace-centred approach initiated by KDF in partnership with other local actors to uplift livelihood of the residents.

 

This also plays a crucial role in fight against violent extremism.
