22 Year Old Electrician’s Wife Electrocuted To Death In Uganda
Residents of Buikwe in Uganda were left in shock after receiving news of their fellow resident, Eunice Ajok who was electrocuted on Monday, 6th February.
The incident happened in Njeru Municipality, Lower Nava Zone where the 22 year old resided with her husband, Patrick Latigo.
It is reported that at the time of the unfortunate events, Patrick who also works as an electrician had gone to work leaving his wife at home.
Speaking to journalists, Ssezibwa region’s police spokesman Hellen Butoto, revealed that Eunice who was cleaning the house, accidentally came into contact with a live wire that was connected from the socket and running under the couple’s bed to the old hotplate they used in the house.
“The incident happened in one of the slum areas where residents have constructed temporary houses under high voltage power lines from Nalubaale Dam,” She said.
The incident was reported by Mr. Joel Obunga, a neighbour, who heard the deceased fall in the house; and upon entering, he found her unconscious with the hand resting on an electric wire.
The body of the deceased was transported to Jinja Referral hospital for postmortem leaving police to investigate the incident further.
Illegal connections are common in the Eastern parts of Uganda and UMEME together with Uganda police continue their hunt for the culprits to reduce such cases.
