Mob Kills Security Guard Who Murdered UPDF Soldier In A Bar Fight

One soldier attached to Uganda People’s Defence Force together with one security guard have been reported dead following a bar brawl.

The dead are Mubangizi Moses and Otim Huron and according to eyewitnesses, the incident happened on 4^th, February, 2023 at around 11PM. It is said that Otim, the security guard, picked a fight with some UPF soldiers who were in a bar.

Following the exchange, Otim went back to his beat to collect his gun. They got into a fight and Mubangizi, the soldier, disarmed Otim, giving the gun to another security guard identified as Simon Wana.

Otim attacked Wana and after retrieving his gun, he shot and killed Mubangizi on the spot. Still at the scene, Otim was ambushed by the mob that beat him to death.

The double murder happened in Katwe. Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, ASP Luke Oweyesigirye released an official statement confirming the double murder on Monday morning (6th February).

“The police responded to the scene and recovered one gun and one bullet but the magazine is missing. The bodies were taken to KCCA City mortuary for postmortem, and Wana has been arrested and is being held at Katwe division for further investigations,” he said.

Luke further called upon the public to always alert the police about cases involving private security guards to reduce such cases.
