Konza Technopolis Investors Assured Full Support From The Government
Cabinet Secretary, Eliud Owalo has assured investors that Kenya Kwanza Government is effortlessly working to ensure Konza Technopolis is effectively working as part of digital economy agenda.
The CS, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy while speaking during the Annual Investors Conference at Konza Technopolis, Mr Owalo said the government is effortlessly working to make Konza a great techhub in Kenya.
“The government is committed to developing Konza Technopolis into a world-class city. My Ministry is working to ensure that we deliver the Konza Bill to properly anchor the project into law to protect our investor’s interest.” CS Owalo Said.
Early last month while speaking on one of Kenyas’ television, Mr Owalo said the government has invested heavily on Konza Technopolis especially in infrastructure and on July, Konza will be manufacturing its own mobile phones.
Konza Technopolis which was founded by the late Mwai Kibaki more than a decade ago, has been lagging behind in development due to funds.
However, President William Ruto ascending to power, he assured Kenyans that his government will be manufacturing mobile phones locally and sold to Kenyans at an affordable price KES 5000.
In promotion of education, Mr. Owalo told the attendees that his ministry is also working closely with the ministry of education to ensure Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) at Konza is effectively functional and has students this year 2023.
“We have invested heavily in Konza and we shall continue to support the institution to deliver on its mandate.
“We take the great progress that the city has made, including the development of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) which is being undertaken jointly with the Ministry of Education,” said Mr. Owalo.
As he pushes for the enactment of Konza Bill in parliament, he also said the stipulated items in the bill will promote good rapport and tax incentives between Konza Technopolis and investors.
