Manchester United Breaks Silence On Greenwood After His Case Dropped
Following the Crown Prosecutor’s charges on 2nd February 2023 of dropping Manchester United’s footballer Mason Greenwood’s case, Manchester United management has broken their silence on the arising questions.
The 21-year-old striker was arrested last year January over attempted rape allegations and was to face his second trial on November 23rd, 2023.
After key witnesses withdrawing from the case, the Crown Prosecutor yesterday ruled out by dropping all the allegations meted on Mason Greenwood.
“In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.
“In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case. We have explained our decision to all parties.
“We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met” the Crown Prosecutor ruled.
Upon the charges, Greenwood on the other broke his silence and showed a sigh of relief by thanking his family and those who have been with him.
“Relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time” Greenwood said.
Ten Hag however hasn’t commented about Mason, last year 2022 upon the arrest of his first team player said when proven innocent, he’ll welcome him to the team.
“If he’s proven innocent he would get a place in my team, he’s an exceptional talent who can play on the left wing, right-wing, centre forward, and false nine” Ten Hag told the press last year.
However, Manchester United management has broken their silence and said, they shall be doing their own investigations and rule out what will follow.
“Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete” Manchester United Management said.
The 21-year-old soccer star had been suspended from Manchester United upon the arrest but he’s still on the official Manchester United website and paid his weekly salary.
