Chebukati; Raila To Release The Video Footage He Alluded At Jacaranda Grounds
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati has denied allegations made by Hon. Raila Odinga on 29th January 2023 purporting that he ( Chebukati) visited him at his home during electioneering period.
During Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya Coalition Party rally at Nairobi’s Jacaranda Grounds, Mr Chebukati on a statement released 31st January 2023 through Saroni & Stevens Advocates said Raila Odinga told the public that he visited him to “his house” during election period.
Through his advocates, the former IEBC chairman has denied the allegations and demanded Raila Odinga to produce the video footage showing him in his house during election period less he face the rough side of the law.
As the statement say, Mr. Chebukati has faced a lot of challenges during his regime as IEBC chairman and that, Raila Odinga is tarnishing his name and legacy.
In a Kiswahili translated sentiments of former Prime Minister Hon. Raila Odinga, Mr Odinga reports that some people wanted to bribe Mr Chebukati and friends during electioneering period with an aim of rigging votes.
“Chebukati says that there are some people who wanted to bribe him together with his friends Guliye and Molu. I want to ask you, what did you come to do in my house?What did you ask from me? And I have footage for that, you play with me, I will release it…” says Raila Odinga during Azimio La Umoja rally.
Hon. Raila Odinga has been claiming his votes were stolen and lays blame on former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati as one who led the team in rigging his votes.
In line with his statements on 29th January 2023, it’s alluded Chebukati said some people wanted to bribe him which are still undisclosed.
Since election, Mr Chebukati has been of the political topic which his advocates adds that, it’s malicious to dirtify their client’s name and now want Raila Odinga to furnish the visit allegations.
As the case, the law firm has demanded and instructed Raila Odinga to support his sentiments by releasing a video footage which he claim he has it.
“In the circumstances of your allegations and in the context, our client’s strong rebuttal thereto, OUR INSTRUCTIONS are to DEMAND from you, as of right which we hereby do, to be furnished with the alleged video footage within seven days from the date hereof.
” KINDLY TAKE NOTICE that if we do not receive the video footage demanded herein above within the Demand Period, we shall be constrained to institute appropriate adverse but lawful proceedings against you” the law firm statement notes.
