Dimba Patriots, Kona Rangers, and Mayenje Santos have also been suspended from the FKF Men Division One League for the 2022/2023 season and relegated to the 2023/2024 FKF Men Division Two League.
The suspensions are a result of failure to honor three matches without providing an acceptable explanation in writing.
Rule 3.1.12 of the FKF rules and regulations governing Kenyan football (2019), states that “Any club in a league format that does not turn up for three (3) fixtures in a season and their explanation, under Rule 3.1.7. is not accepted in all the three (3) incidences to the FKF National Leagues and Competitions Committee, shall be suspended for the rest of the season, shall be relegated to a lower league for the next season and may face other disciplinary action.”
Fortune Sacco who have also not honored their matches in the National Super League went to court and obtained orders restraining FKF from taking any action against the club (including docking of points and/or relegation) pending the hearing and determination of the petition
The standings of all affected competitions have been updated to reflect the suspensions.
But in a rejoinder, The said clubs; Aps Bomet, Fortune sacco , Mayenje Santos, Dimba Patriots and Kona Rangers have termed the move by FKF to relegate them as Illegal, null and void.
”We have several active matters in Court including SDT E036 of 2022, HCJR No. 5 of 2022, and PET No. E001 of 23 Meru and therefore until these matters are fully heard and determined we cannot play in any lower league therefore the issue of promotion and relegation is stillactive in Court. FKF at the moment does not have the authority nor legal mandate to purport to relegate any Therefore the action by FKF is a clear contempt of court.” Reads part of the statement
