Gor Mahia Sink FC Talanta, Shifts Focus To Mashemeji Derby

Gor Mahia enjoyed an easy 3-0 win over FC Talanta on Thursday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

K’Ogalo’s sensational striker Benson Omala scored one of the goals to take his tally to ten goals out of ten matches this season as he placed himself on the satge in the race for the golden boot.

The win sent Gor Mahia to third on the table with 23 points, one behind joint leaders Tusker FC and Nzoia Sugar with a match at hand.

Joshua Onyango headed home George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo’s corner in the eighth minute before poster boy Benson Omala scored the second goal from a long pass by Peter Lwasa.

John Macharia ensured the green army collected maximum points by adding a third goal in the 45th minute.

It was a resounding message to their Sunday opponents AFC Leopards who had on Wednesday beaten Kenya Police by a solitary goal at Nyayo Stadium as they dared K’Ogalo for the weekend contest.

And Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry now says the stage is set for a tough duel against their traditional arch-rivals.

‘’We have shown that we are ready to face AFC Leopards on Sunday. They are also playing well and the results from their game (against Police) on Wednesday and our performance today sets the stage for an exciting game on Sunday,” said McKinstry.
