MCSK Expels Ezekiel Mutua as Society Employee, Asks Him Return Its Assets

The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has expelled Ezekiel Mutua as the society’s Chief Executive Officer(CEO) and asked him to return its assets.

In a notice published in the Daily Nation, MCSK’s Board of Directors disallowed Mutua from making any financial transactions and cautioned the public against doing business with him.

The Board of Directors explained that it would not be liable for any costs or damages one would incur for doing business with Mutua under the name of MCSK.

“You are cautioned that the said Ezekiel Mutua does not have any authority to transact any business for and on behalf of MCSK. And hence should be vigilant and careful when dealing with him.” The statement reads.

The Board also revealed that Mutua had refused to surrender the Society’s assets, including its official social media accounts, and asked him to return its property, including a car.

“The said Ezekiel Mutua has refused/ or declined to surrender back the following property from his possession after his dismissal from employment with MCSK; Motor/vehicle- Toyota Prado TX, Reg no. KDK 158X(Black in colour), all official MCSK Social Media Accounts,” The statement added.

In a separate statement allegedly from the MCSK signed by the MCSK National chairperson, Ephantus Wahome Kamau, dismissed the report by the said Board of Directors over Mutua’s dismissal as the CEO.

“We wish to clarify unequivocally that these allegations are entirely baseless. Dr. Ezekiel Mutua remains the legitimate CEO of MCSK. The individuals behind this notice are former directors whose terms ended on 16th February 2025 and who have no authority to speak or act on behalf of the society.” The statement said.
