The Ministry of Health also said the cemetery is a public risk and will be closed soon since it was declared full 20 years ago.

Following the reports, Maina backed up the Ministry’s plan to close the cemetery, adding that when he dies, he wants to be cremated to save time and expenses.
“Why are we pressuring ourselves with things that were not part of us? We can’t keep burying people on top of each other. We have to think of other ways of disposal. Up until the 1940s, we used to throw bodies in the forest to be eaten by the hyenas. This thing of spending Ksh 2M on a funeral…come on.
“Who cares what you do with my body when I die? I’ve put it in my will, I’m going to be cremated, and it’s in my will. I’ve already written a will…The day after I die, I will be in Kariakor.” Maina stated.

The vocal presenter explained that most funerals leave families in poverty due to burial expenses. He said Africans should embrace modern ways of burying the dead by saving time and avoiding unnecessary expenses.
“What those funerals do is to impoverish families. Finish them because you must feed all the mourners coming to do nonsense. Mourners who never even cared about the dead person.” He added.
