Radio Citizen presenter Mzazi Willy M Tuva has reacted to the viral claims alleging he conned an upcoming artiste Ksh 500,000 through Darasa.

In an exclusive with one YouTuber, Willy M Tuva addressed the allegations by saying he never conned the upcoming artiste any amount of money as the artiste alleges.

According to Willy M Tuva, the US-based Kenyan artiste requested a collaboration with singer Darasa and he connected the two for free because the artiste never had the amount of money for a collabo that Darasa might have requested.

“Huyu msanii kulingana na kazi aliyokuwa anafanya, hakuwa na uwezo wa ku-afford kulipa the amount ambayo Darasa alikuwa anataka. Sikumbuki kama ilikuwa laki tano ama ni ngapi lakini nilimwomba Darasa ampunguzie.” Willy M Tuva said.

The celebrated journalist went ahead and said because of their love for supporting young talents, he wanted to help the artiste but what shocked him was the allegations the artiste made against him.

“Huyu kijana nilikuwa najaribu kumsaidia lakini sijawahi tapeli mtu. Mungu ni shahidi. Sitawahi tapeli mtu. Niko na kazi ambayo inalipa vizuri nashukuru Mungu. Ninashughuli nyingi nafanya ambazo zinanipa kipato. Sijatapeli msanii na sitawahi. Atafute fame lakini asitafute kwa kuharibia mtu mwingine.” He added.

Following the viral allegations, the presenter said he never felt good over the issue because it soiled his brand as a revered journalist across East Africa.

“It has hurt me kwamba sometime when you try to help someone, huyo mtu anakulipa kwa fadhila. Brand yangu nimeijenga kwa miaka mingi Afrika Mashariki. Na kila soko halikosi mbwa koko lakini hii imeni-affect but it’s part of being a brand. Ukishakuwa na jina, lazma utatupiwa mawe. It has affected me imeni-hurt but I have moved on.” He revealed.

However, he and Darasa advised the artiste to distance himself from giving ‘fake’ information to the public because when Darasa accepted the collaboration, the artiste never delivered as it was expected.

“Huyo msanii hakuwa na hela. Hakuwa na hela za kunilipa mimi collabo. Aliomba msaada na nilipo rekodi nyimbo nikamtumia, ni yeye alishindwa ku deliver. Alishindwa kuperform.” Darasa added.
