Home » Why are you poor?

Poverty is not a disease they say. However, it can be a choice one makes from the options of  being poor or rich. I know you are already in total disagreement with me but you better believe it.

At times you will attribute your poverty state to your maker; with a major claim of, it’s the Most High who gives others while denying others. Other times you blame the poor witch

-doctors and villagers for your misfortunes.

Well, with your own reasons you may feel justified to do that. I also agree nobody wants to  be poor. We all want to be regarded as rich owning the most luxurious cars and fancy items you can think of. But why is it that others get rich while you remain in your state or get worse?

It is about the decisions you make and efforts you put in your day to day life. Let’s look at these two different scenarios.

Scenario 1

Maxwell, an Engineer graduate from the most prestigious University seeks for a White Collar job for 3 years but in vain. During the job-seeking period, he is totally dependent on his parents and has no promising future. He then decides to start hawking boiled eggs on the streets. After six months of hawking, he gets enough capital to start a Mitumba business. Waking up early, sometimes having to walk in the rain and serve the needs of the tax collectors, he moves out of his parents house and three years later has his own rental apartments and cars for hire. He leads a luxurious and fancy life admired by everyone in the village and therefore constantly in the minds of those holding harambees and with other needs.

Scenario 2

Legion, a medical graduate is mainly focused on getting a White Collar job. His language is white collar job or nothing. A blue collar job is no vocabulary in his dictionary. After seven years of looking for one but in vain, he moves out of his parents house as age is also catching up with him.He gets to the city and because he’s not ready to do casual work, he depends on his rich relatives and occasionally his parents for survival. He sleeps as long as he feels like and spend the rest of his day on the famous ” jaba” base chewing Miraa and using other drugs that come his way. His life is therefore miserable and the degree he acquired remains a tissue paper. To the faint hearted, he is a testimony that there are  no jobs and degrees are useless.

Being like Legion is cheap. It requires no much effort and strain. Just sleep, wake up and curse the world for your condition as you repeat the cycle for the rest of your life.

However,I know you desire an end like that of Maxwell. The question of whether you are ready to work for it or not will best be answered by you.

It all starts by moving out of your comfort zone. Ask the rich people you know and you will concur with me that the journey is never easy. It entails enduring cold and hot weathers, failing severally but not giving up, determination, consistency and most importantly sleepless nights and days. Infact, do not expect to sleep like the dead and survive in this land of the living. You will constantly blame the innocent witchdoctors if you do so.

Ask yourself of the things you can do to change your life and do them. Think of life positively and it shall be well with you. The truth remains, your life and situation is entirely upto you. Nobody owes you success and  nobody is responsible for your miseries.
