Nyota Ndogo, a Mombasa-based Kenyan singer broke her silence over rumours that she has gone broke to the extent that former Governor Ali Hassan donated food for her.
In an exclusive interview on Radio 47, Nyota Ndogo distanced herself from the claims by alleging they were on Ramadan fast and as a custom, after a fast, they have to break the fast with some goodies or showing love to a person through donation.
She alleged that she had not gone broke because she had enough food in her house but the visit by Ali Hassan Joho was not an exception that she wouldn’t have failed to pick up the donated food to break the fast.

“Ni kwa sababu ya mfungo wa Ramadani. Haikuwa chakula cha msaada ama cha wale ambao hawajiwezi. Wakati ambapo chakula kinaletwa kwa ajili ya mfungo wa Ramadhani acheni hata sisi tuchukue. Mbona na sisi tusipokee?” she said.
Nyota Ndogo added that she had never taken to the public and declared that she was rich but lives a simple life just like other netizens.
Further, she revealed that the food donated by the former Mombasa governor was for the general public around her village thus she had to join others to pick the food.

According to her, she had also done charity work for many regarding food donations and that it was her time to feel blessed by another person.
“Watu wasiojiweza wanapewa chakula kila wakati. Na sometimes hata hizo zikitufikia kama zilikuwa ziwaendee, bado huwa tunapeana. Kwa hivyo, watu waache roho mbaya. Na hakuna siku nishajitangaza mimi ni tajiri,” she said.
The songstress recently gave birth to a child who became the topic in town because of her skin colour. However, she said despite the child taking after her, the hairs took after the mzungu dad.
