Yesu Ninyandue hitmaker William Getumbe has been arrested in his home in Eldoret.

Getumbe is reported to have been arrested on Monday evening and taken to Kapsoya police station in Eldoret.

His alleged arrest comes after the Kenya Film and Classification Board issued a stern verdict on him to pull down his blasphemous song Yesu Ninyandue from all digital media platforms.

“A demand letter has been issued to Embarambamba and Getumbe to remove any inappropriate content from their various platforms. Failure to comply will result in legal action per the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.” The statement reads in part.

Following the order from the Kenya Film Classification Board, the Ninyandue singer told one digital media that his viral song had been pulled down on social after a section of people reported it.

Before the order of demand from KFCB, Getumbe received backlash from Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua who ordered him to remove his song from all digital media platforms or face the law.

In his response, the Ninyandue crooner went on camera and responded to Mutua by alleging he wouldn’t pull his famous song on social media.

He alleged the song was not blasphemous as many viewed it but composed it using metaphorical literature like the biblical Jesus.

“Mapastors wengi siku hizi wanasema wako na mimba ya roho mtakatifu. Oooh! I am pregnant with vision…tunatakiwa tuwe pregnant with prayers.” Getumbe claimed.

“I am not going to pull down my song. It will stay there” the Eldoret-based Kisii gospel musician vowed.
