A retired police officer received his precious coffin months after he built his own grave.

Mzee Sabasita, father to one Tanzania artiste Tunda while speaking to Wasafi TV, revealed that he was set to die peacefully after getting all the requirements for his burial.

The retired police officer said his coffin cost him Tsh 3M after the carpenter had taken six months to make it.

When receiving his expensive coffin, the retired police officer was over the moon by alleging his plans were now in place and that any day he could die, there were no worries about his burial requirements.

Sasa nasubiri kifo tu,” he added.

In September 2023, Sabasita went viral on social media after he built his modern grave that cost him Tsh 7M. After the grave, he told the public that his plans to get a coffin were underway and in less than seven months, he had procured his dream coffin.

Further in the interview, Sabasita disclosed that he wanted to have a decent burial much different from his parents. He alleged his parents died while poor and their burials were full of shame.

I’m doing these things to avoid the inconveniences I witnessed in 1995 when my parents passed away. But also, to reduce the costs for my family and to let people know that death is inevitable. Every day, as we age, our lifespan decreases by one day,” Sabasita said at the time of building his grave.
