John Matara emerged as the prime suspect in Starlet Wahu’s murder has decried being assaulted by DCI officers. As reported by Kenyans.co.ke, Matara through his lawyer states that he was beaten up by the DCI while heading to Ruiru Law Courts today.

According to the lawyers, Matara received heavy blows and kicks on the face with private parts also pulled by the DCI officers. His lawyers Samuel Ayora pleaded with the magistrate to have him taken to the hospital to receive his medical attention, a request that was granted.

As the court delves into the matter just a month after denying murder charges, John Matara today appeared before court facing additional accusations of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman in Kahawa Wendani, with charges including rape and robbery with violence.The charge sheet detailed how he allegedly threatened the victim with a knife, stealing both cash and personal belongings, including an ID, international passport, and family ATM card.

In defense, Matara’s lawyer, Ayora, vehemently denied the allegations, asserting his client’s innocence and seeking bail, arguing that Matara posed no flight risk.

 

The state prosecutor advocated for a court-ordered DNA test to establish the truth. Magistrate Mwaniki, reviewing the evidence, directed Matara to file a report at Ruiru Police Station and undergo a DNA test, both under tight security.

The decision on whether Matara would be released on bond was deferred, with the magistrate announcing that the ruling would be issued on Friday, adding an element of anticipation to the unfolding legal drama.

The unexpected demise of Starlet Wahu, a prominent Kenyan socialite and sister to renowned Pastor Kanyari, shocked the nation. Reports from reliable sources indicated that she met her tragic end in an Airbnb.
