Kwale: Top Pupil In Matuga Yet To Join Form 1 For Lacking School Fees

Rama Munga Juma, a brilliant pupil from Matuga, Kwale County has not joined form one due to a lack of school fees.

The 15-year-old boy sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2023 at Kajiweni Primary School in Mkongani and scored 304 marks.

However, the Matuga boy has not joined form one despite emerging as the best pupil in his school. The pupil said he was set to join Mazeras High School in Kilifi but his guardian was unable to pay his school fees.

Munga lives with his 72-year-old grandfather who doubles as his guardian but due to the tough economy, his guardian was unable to raise the Ksh 40, 535  required by the school as his school fees.

Being hopeful and determined to join Form One like other pupils, the boy pleaded with well-wishers to help him raise the money and join high school.

His mother Riziki Charo revealed that being a single mother and jobless, her son was set to join form one on 15th, January 2024 but she lacked the money to take her son to school.

“I only do manual jobs and currently, I am jobless due to tough economic times, ” she said.

The pupil is determined and focused on becoming a banker in the future if helped to join Form One and work on his dream.

Currently, high school students across the country are reporting back to school from half term.
