This is due to the fact that most men are believed to have great knowledge in sports unlike female counterparts. 5. Jimoi Zitah (Jepkemboi)
She is one of the vibrant, passionate female sports journalists who is taking over the sports industry in Kenya, Jimoi grew up in Kibera slums, although her roots are from Kapsabet in Nandi County. She graces our TVs every Monday from 8-9AM for Sporty Monday show on Citizen TV alongside seasoned football commentator Fred Arocho, Steve Shitera, Isaac Swila and radio Citizen’s Jacob Icia. In an interview with Kibera News Network, she narrated her inspiring story from the slums of Kibera to land a life-changing job at Royal Media Services to become of the best sports journalist in the country.

4. Ida Waringa
The United States International University Africa (USIU) alumni kicked off her sports journalism back in 2016 when she was introduced to TV world at Bamba Sport which partnered with Radio Africa before she moved Nation Media Group television NTV.
In 2020, She produced an investigative documentary alongside Jeff Kinyanjui named “The Football Con,” which aimed to reveal instances of match-fixing in Kenya. This documentary received recognition from the Global Investigative Journalists Network Africa chapter where they received the international recognition.

Ida Waringa has managed to conduct interviews with legendary sporting figures, including the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner and Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, Manchester United treble winner Dwight Yorke and former Arsenal man Theo Walcott. Ida is currently based in Beijing, China where she holds the position of News Editor, responsible for covering current affairs at China Global Television Network (CGTN) headquarters. 3. Caren Kibett
She is a renowned sports anchor and reporter hailing from Elgeyo Marakwet County, after finishing up her High School, Caren Kibett joined University of Nairobi where she pursued bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Production. She joined media max owned station K24 in 2017 as an intern before making her TV debut n 2019 at the station. Her stay at the Television did not take long as she was among the over 100 journalists who were laid-off by the media house in June 2020 after COVID-19 hit. However, after a year later she made her TV comeback with national Broadcaster KBC since August 2021. The curvy TV Queen who refers herself as the Marakwet Express, bagged the Best TV Personality of the year at the Zikomo Africa Awards in October 2022 held in Zambia.

2. Mukami Wambora
Mukami is the daughter to former Embu Governor Martin Wambora. She was introduced into TV by sports queen Carol Radull back in 2016 when Bamba Sport was born. After exiting Radio Africa, she joined Royal Media Services where, she used to host sports news on prime time and also appeared as an analyst and sometimes as host on Sporty Monday on Citizen TV. The Georgius TV star left the Royal Media Services giant television silently in 2022 after spending 5 years with the media house. Mukami once worked as a legal assistant for Cooperative Bank during weekdays then did football analysis at Capital FM during weekends. However, in 2016, she decided to dump the legal professions in order to fully work as a journalist. Mukami is now the current treasurer for Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK).

In an interview with Churchill, Carol revealed she was born and raised in Botswana, until when she was 13 years old when her family relocated to Kenya in Bondo, Siaya county.
The seasoned female sports journalist worked at Radio Africa for close to 21 years before she exited the media house in 2021. Radull was the first Head of Programme controller at Radio Jambo where during her time she spotted and recruited the veteran football commentator Fred Arocho, the morning duo Gidi na Ghost, Bramwel Mwololo among other talents during her time at Radio Africa.
