Ras, a Mother-in-law actor has said Kenyan actors are paid dismally for the work they do daily.
In an interview with Plug TV, Ras said fame and money are two different things in the life of a Kenyan actor. Real name John Githui, Ras said most actors shouldn’t be blamed for coming online and begging fans for support.

“It’s a hard time for wasanii. A lot of people know and notice actors, but they are broke. The value ya industry is going down with time.
“Whatever I used to get back then is different from what I get right now,” Ras said.
According to Ras, actors should be paid more money unlike news anchors because anchoring is an easy thing.

The actor further says, anchors always read ready-made things other people have toiled in the field to send them. In that case, they should be paid less amount of money compared to actors because their work is also not tedious.
“Why should anchors be paid so much money na actor halipwi dooh poa? News anchor huleta nini? Hakuna!
“Yeye husoma tu kitu ameandikiwa after kuokotwa huko nje alafu alipwe Ksh 600, 00o” Ras added.
Moreover, the actor alleged that being an actor comes with so many challenges, especially in Kenya. When an actor is walking around, fans recognize her or him faster compared to a news anchor who reads ready-made work.

“Ukiwa actor unajulikana mpaka na madoggy kwa barabara. Hakuna mtu hakujui. Hakuna kitu hakikujui lakini uko broke” he claimed.
Mr Githui on why actors go for fans to beg for financial support like Omosh, a former Tahidi High actor is because they are not paid their royalties as actors. Hence they have fans, they opt to seek refuge from them to sustain or maintain their public name in the form of lifestyle.
“Hakuna royalty yoyote actors hupata. Tuseme my fresh episode comes on Thursday, then kuna repeats ya the same content on Monday, nikilipwa ya Thursday hiyo ya Monday silipwi kwa nini na kuna watu wamketi wanaiwatch? And ads are running? ” He slammed.
