Pressure As Newcastle United Lose their Second Match In a Row

 

The Magpies suffered another defeat in a row in front of their home fans.

 

Newcastle welcomed Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park for match week 19 fixture to wrap up the first leg of the 2023/24 season.

 

The Magpies took an early lead in the 23rd minute when their Swedish winger Alexander Isak converted a penalty before Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood equalized the score before halftime.

8 minutes after the second half kicked off, former Manchester United winger Antony Elanga provided another assist to Chris Wood who doubled the lead for Nottingham Forest making it 2-1 in the 53rd minute.

7 minutes later Chris Wood completed his Boxing Day HAT-TRICK as he became just the Seventh player to have scored a Premier League Hat-trick on a Boxing Day making it 3-1 for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest who sacked their manager Steve Cooper last week before appointing Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo who formerly managed Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.

 

Espirito was appointed as the new Forest manager immediately after Cooper was fired.

 

He suffered his first defeat in the first match in charge before collecting all three points and three goals against Eddie Howe’s side at Tyneside.

 

Newcastle United have now lost two premier league matches in a span of three days after they suffered a 1-0 defeat from Luton Town last weekend before recording another defeat at St. James’ Park.

 

Newcastle are currently at position 8 with 29 points.
