Former KFC Manager In Jail For Stealing Company Money, Spending It On Betting
A former KFC employee has been remanded to Luzira Maximum Prison until January 10, when he will be sentenced for stealing Shs. 22 million from KFC and spending the money on betting.
James Muwaga 27, a former manager at Lubaga branch since 2019 until November 2022 when he started taking the company money and using it to engage in internet scam with the hope of making profits.
Between 25th and 26th November, Muwaga is said to have visited a number of different KFC cashiers refusing them to bank the money and using his position as manager to take it from them.

He collected Shs. 20 million in total and took Shs. 2 million from the safe.
He then called his regional manager, Owino Jenkins and narrated to him of what he had done. He said he had invested in a scheme called ‘Paper Stone’ where he put Shs. 16 million with the hope of making more profits.
When he wanted to make his second withdrawal, the App asked him to pay a certain amount of money as tax and when he invested the remaining balance of the Shs.6 million, he realized it had closed down.
Muwaga then wrote to his bosses confessing to the crime and pleaded with them to help him keep his job as he pays back the money in installments from his salary, something they turned down and took him to court.

In his defense, Muwaga told court that he used the money in a bad investment and asked for leniency.
Judge Byarugaba Adams told court that he was to make his judgement basing on the testimonies of six people that were presented before him.
As he was being taken out of the docket, Muwaga amidst tears faced the court and asked youths to stay away from betting.
