The court noted that she could not be released, holding that she was a flight risk due to her alleged involvement in large scale drug trafficking.

It should be noted that Mathee Wa Ngara had applied for a bond as she urged the court to release her due to her alleged underlying medical condition that required monitoring and regular medication.

Nancy Kigunzu insisted that her condition would worsen should the court sent her bail but her request was denied.

During her application, Magistrate Njeri Thuku noted that granting her the bond was not in the best interest of justice.

Mathee Wa Ngara’s arrest caused a melee on social media with countless Kenyans demanding police to release her, so that she could go about her day to day business.
