Lionel Messi’s 2022 World Cup Shirts Auctioned For Ksh. 1.2 Billion
Argentina legendary footballer Lionel Messi who plays for MLS club Inter Miami owned by former Manchester United legend David Beckham.
His six shirts he wore during Argentina’s triumphant run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup were sold for staggering $7.8 million (Ksh. 1.2 billion) at an auction in New York yesterday.

The auction house Sotheby’s which is based in USA said the price for the set of shirts surpassed the previous record for the sale of an item associated with the player, making it the most valuable sporting memorabilia auctioned this year.
Messi led Argentina to a historic World cup championship in Qatar where they defeated France in Finals through penalty shoot-outs on aggregate 4-2. Messi went on to be named the player of tournament where he was the second top scorer with 7 goals after France international Kylian Mbappe who had 8 goals.
