Bobi Wine Under Fire For Anti-Homosexuality Bill Comments
The president of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has faced backlash for his comments reprimanding the members of parliament for passing the Anti Homosexuality Bill during his interview in the UK after he got a lift on his travel ban.
Bobi Wine’s ban from traveling to the UK was because of his jam ‘Burn Dem’ whose lyrics were considered homophobic. When asked about the same song during the interview, Bobi explained that ‘people grow and they transform’.
The former presidential candidate also noted that the Anti-Homosexuality Act was introduced to fight him together with other members of the opposition. He also revealed how some of his party members now worked with President Museveni and was not surprised when they voted in favor of the bill.

The speaker of parliament, Hon. Among Anita revealed that the bill was jointly passed by both the NRM and the opposition members without anyone being coerced.
“The Bill was brought by an opposition member and was also seconded by the opposition, and the whole House supported for the good of this country in the name of protecting a family. The aspect of having cheap politics and trading the decision of a country, which is a national position, cannot be accepted by this country,” she revealed.
