“Tumieni Juice”: County Commissioner Urges Churches To Avoid Wine In Holy Communion
Nyandarua County Commissioner Mohamed Barre has made a statement that has generated a heated online debate.
While addressing church leaders, Barre urged churches to replace wine used during Holy Communion with juice.
“Sacrament is dipped in wine. I request the church to change that into juice,”he started his speech

According to him, wine generates some thirst for drinking and would make it difficult for rehabilitated drug addicts to quit their previous acts when they always find it in church.
Additionally, having wine in church will make it difficult for parents to tell their children that drinking is bad.

He went ahead to cite an example of a Bishop who did away with wine because of the thirst in drinking it created to members.
