Government Hikes Death Certificates, IDs, Passports, Birth And Marriage Certificates In New Revision

Kenyan government has hiked passports, Identity cards, certificates and permit fees leaving citizens in shock.

 

In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, ordinary passport size (32 pages) will now cost Ksh 7,500 from Ksh 4,500.

 

College students going for internship will pay Ksh 20,000 from Ksh 5000 to be issued with student pass insurance to proceed with internship.

Persons 18 years of age without Identity Cards (ID) will have to walk with Ksh 1,000 to get their IDs. One who loses an ID, will pay Ksh 2000 for replacement from Ksh 100.

 

” It is notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Regulation 60 of the Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning has granted to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration the authority for the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services to revise charges and levies on its services” reads part of the statement.

 

A Kenyan who gives birth to a child outside the country will pay Ksh 1,000,000 for citizenship registration a double rise from Ksh 500, 000.

Persons applying for birth certificates or Death Certificates late will have to pay a whoop of Ksh 500 from Ksh 150.

 

Normal birth certificate application and death certificate will cost a Kenyan Ksh 200 for application from Ksh 50.

 

Couple intending to formalize their marriage will pay Ksh 100, 000 from Ksh 30,000.

 

The review has left citizens in shock at the period petrol prices have been hiked and general price for commodities, toughening the lives of common citizens.

 

Citizens will now have take caution and put much focus on keeping their governmental assets such as IDs to avoid paying high amount of money for replacement.
