Landlord Evicts Tenants Over Strange Practices
A landlord has given an ultimatum to a group of his tenants over mysterious practices in their cult group and failure to pay rent.
Ssaka Kasule, a landlord in Kisigula Cell, Bunamwaya stated he rented out his two 2 bedroomed houses to the group led by Prossy Kasule, thinking they were upright members of the community. It was when they started practicing their religious cult that they noticed here strange they were.
According to the neighbours, their cult doesn’t permit them to take children to school and visit hospitals when they are sick but instead pray.
“They cook, bathe, wash and do everything from inside the house. They never get out or associate with anyone,” Ssaka said.
Even though they have rented his houses for four years, Ssaka claims he has never interacted with them face to face because they never step out and send his rent money over the phone.
“That woman Gave birth to three children from my house but I have never seen them. I only hear them crying from inside,” he said.
OC Denis Atuhaire of Mutundwe Police Post together with the local council visited the premises and when they broke down the house doors, they discovered brand new retail items which the locals said were only sold to members of their cult.
“They do not sell to anyone else. However much you ask for the prices of the products, they will never answer you,” a concerned local pointed out.
Hajji Muhammed Kiwanuka, the local council chairman pleaded with the landlord who gave them an ultimatum of two weeks to pack out of his house.
“They start praying at 2 AM and they are always wailing. We do not have peace because many of my other tenants have deserted my houses because of them. I’ll leave them with the money they owe me but they need to leave,” he stated.
