Caretaker Mysteriously Murdered, Body Discarded By The Road
Police in Rukungiri District, Western Uganda are investigating the circumstances under which a 56-year-old woman was murdered and discarded by the roadside.
Bahangirire Gaudesia, a caretaker at one Murumba Maria’s home and a resident of Rwamarengye Village left home at approximately 7PM and went to Katugunda trading center. Here she was seen chatting with people, also informing them that she had come to buy groceries from the nearby kiosks.
According to the police statement issued by Kigezi Region police spokesperson Maate Elly, the deceased left at around 8PM without any of the items she had initially come to buy.
One motorcycle rider only identified as Gilbert recalled seeing her seated by the roadside which is about 300 meters from the trading center, making it the last time she was seen alive.
Residents were shocked to find her lying dead on the roadside at 7AM the next day. They alerted the village chairperson Tiberondwa Sharif who in response called the police.
Police visited the scene and took the body to Rwakabengo Health Center III for postmortem.
Maate revealed that investigations into her death were still ongoing and called out the public to report any information in regards to the tragedy. The incident was recorded as a murder under file number CRB:684/2023.
