Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen and Xhaka are currently in advanced negotiations for a €15 million summer transfer. This summer, Xhaka will begin the final year of his contract with Arsenal, while the club has the option to extend it by an additional year.

Earlier in the season, Xhaka said Arteta was the reason he stayed at Arsenal. “There was one guy [who wanted me to stay]; his name is Mikel Arteta,” Xhaka said.

“I will always support him; it doesn’t matter what happens. Without him, I am 100 percent sure I would not be in the club anymore.” He said.

Xhaka has been in great form this season, where he has made 45 appearances and contributed to 14 goals, missing just one league game, and he will leave disappointed after failing to win the league after leading for almost the entire season.

His departure will eventually open doors for more incomings this season, with Moises caicedo, Declan Rice, and Mason Mount all on the club’s radar to start a new chapter under arteta.
