Ja Morant Suspended Again After Flashing A Gun

The Memphis Grizzlies suspended their star Ja Morant for the second time in three months after he flashed a gun on social media.

Ja Morant contributed to Memphis earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs this season by averaging 26.2 points per game.

The first season of Morant’s five-year, $194 million contract is scheduled to start this year. If he had been selected for the All-NBA team this season, it might have gone to a supermax; instead, he missed out, costing him nearly $39 million in potential future earnings.

He was suspended for the first time after a video emerged in March showing Morant carrying a pistol while drinking at a Denver bar during the Grizzlies’ visit to face the Nuggets. He quit the Grizzlies and checked himself into a counseling facility.

NBA spokesperson Mike Bass released a statement confirming the ongoing investigation. “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.” He said.

The Memphis Grizzlies were eliminated from the playoffs by the Lakers in six games in the first round.
