Everton Move Out Of Relegation Zone
Everton stunned Brighton 5-1 on Monday evening as they moved out of the relegation zone.
After just 34 seconds, Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the game’s first goal. He then added the second through a spectacular volley from McNeil’s cross gave Everton a two-goal advantage. The visitors then scored the third goal when Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele deflected Dwight McNeil’s cross into his own net, and Everton led 3-0 at halftime.
Brighton made four chances at the halftime break, but it was Everton’s lovely night, and McNeil scored the fourth through the break. Alexis MacAllister then pulled one back for the home side, but it was McNeil who scored the final goal for the visitors.
The win was the first in eight games for Everton, and manager Sean Dyche said they needed to build on that.
“It’s a quality of performance that we want to build,” Dyche said. “It shows it’s in there—it’s the consistency I’ve been searching for.” He said.
Everton are now two points above the relegation zone with 32 points from 35 games, while Brighton have 55 points from 33 games played.
