Motorcyclist Elopes With Sh.9M He Was Sent To Deliver
A boda boda cyclist has been remanded at Luzira Maximum Prison for running away with his boss’ money that was meant to buy a house.
Kyalo Charles, 20, a resident of Kajjansi stood before Nateete Lubaga, Mengo Court as Mugera Caroline, a key witness and a real estate dealer gave evidence against him. She claimed that the suspect was meant to deliver Ush 9 million to her friend and business partner to help purchase a house but he never showed up.
Mugera revealed that she got acquainted with Kyalo in March 2022 through a mutual friend Ssekindu Mukasa with whom they did business together. Kyalo allegedly ferried Mugera to different locations throughout her real estate business thus building the trust between the two parties.
Mugera told court that on the fateful day of 31st October, 2022, she had to buy a house in Kawanda-Kirinnyabigo and called Kyalo to help her deliver the said money to Ssekindu to seal the deal. They rode to Freedom City and withdrew Ush4 million, giving Kyalo a total of Ush9 million and trusting him to deliver it because she had classes to attend in Kamwokya.
Hours later, she called the suspect to check whether the money had been delivered but his phone had been switched off. He was arrested two weeks later and presented before court.
Government prosecutor, Mpumirwe Caroline presented before court video evidence captured by a nearby school CCTV showing Mugera handing the money to Kyalo.
When confronted with the evidence, Kyalo left court mesmerized when he denied being the figure in the video despite having confessed at Natete Police and returned Ush500,000 upon his arrest.
Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba remanded Kyalo to Luzira Maximum Prison until his next hearing on 30th May, 2023.
