Missing Husband’s Body Discovered In Swamp
Police in Fort Portal are investigating circumstances under which the body of a missing man was discovered in a swamp by his wife.
The deceased identified as Twesige Charles, 40, was reported missing by his wife Giramia on 19th April, 2023 after she had left him at home and gone for work.
According to Rwenzori Regional police spokesperson Twesigye Vincent, when Giramia returned home that evening, she found her husband with another woman in their home.
Twesigye further states that Giramia attacked the two and during the scuffle, the other woman pulled away and managed to escape, leaving the married couple fighting. The deceased disappeared from home after the incident and reportedly switched off all his phones.
Giramia filed a missing persons’ case at Butebe police under SD ref 04/22(04/2023 whereby inquiries into the matter were commenced with a view of finding the missing victim.
Twesigye’s body however was discovered 18 days later after he went missing.
“His body was recovered on Sunday, 7th May, by his wife within Butebe Cell in Mugunu Swamp,” Twesigye said.
Giramia had reportedly gone to fetch water in the swamp when she found her missing husband’s body.
