Home » Pastor Ezekiel Lose Ksh 20M Following Sunday Police Disruption

After a short interruption by the police on Sunday, televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero accrued a loss worthy Ksh 17 M from offerings and tithe.

 

In a statement released on Sunday by lawyer Danstan Omari addressing Inspector General Japheth Koome, the police were sent to New Life Prayer Church by Coast regional commissioner to get it closed despite having been re-opened on 4th, May 2023 following court order.

 

 

However, their efforts bore no fruits as the lawyers; Omari and Ombeta engaged in; requesting a written court order statement barring worshippers from expressing their freedom and right of worship.

In a statement dated 7th May, 2024, Mr. Omari addressed IG Koome to get ready for a summon for violating his client’s rights to lead, worship, freedom of expression and association.

 

 

It is for the above-mentioned inconveniences and brazen constitutional breaches by officers acting on your instructions that you are warned of legal action being taken against you in person and other higher ranking police officers who have resolved to act with impunity and in abuse of your constitutional mandate” Omari stated in his statement.

 

 

Omari further addressed IG Koome that he is also warned over his police altercation for barring the construction activities at his client’s premises where the time frame for completion was highly affected thus, needing more time and money to get into completion.

 

 

You are put to notice that as an effect of your officers barricading the road leading to the church and the rest of the church compound, about 2,500 workers that were reasonably expected to access the compound to continue with the construction works that are evident in the compound, the time frames within which the various projects were expected to end will undoubtedly be affected,” reads part of the statement.

Following the altercation, he further noted that the opening dates for Kilifi International School and the Kilifi University were also affected as the administration may need a review to change the opening dates.

 

 

Concerning the police officers sent to close the church; Omari also urged the Independent Policing and Overnight Agent (IPOA) to deeply dig into Koome’s matter and the police officers involved at the big loss hours to face the court.

 

 

Since the arrest of Pastor Ezekiel on 27th April, 2023; the church has accounted loses worthy Ksh 20M and only on a single Sunday disruptions by the police, it accounted Ksh 2M accomodation and Ksh 500,000 wasted food loses.

 

 

However, the Church’s case hearing concerning it’s reopening after being linked to the Shakahola massacre, is set to be heard on 8th May, 2023.
