Azimio To Resume Demonstration On Thursday

Several areas of the counties of Kisumu and Nairobi today witnessed protests called by the opposition leader Raila Odinga, who yesterday asked his followers to show up early despite police ban.

 

According to Odinga, the police used authority to prevent what he said was a peaceful protest, the leader and his people promising to continue to put pressure on the administration of President William Ruto.

 

A group of young people were accused of burning tyres, committing crimes and burning cars in various parts of Nairobi.

 

 

The police had to use tear gas to disperse the group of youths who were damaging and vandalizing properties.

 

 

However, as in the past, Odinga this time did not show up for the protest after police officers prevented his motorcade from entering the city.

 

 

The coalition held a press conference later in the afternoon and criticized the government for what they said was the suppression of the right of Kenyans to protest as per the constitution.

 

 

Azimio would later announce the have taken a break to strategized and with will resume demos on 4th May, 2023.

 

They have blasted  Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the Cabinet Secretary for Trade Moses Kuria for using youths to disrupt the peaceful protest  under the disguise of opposition.
