Mikel Arteta Insists The Title Race Is Not Over
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told his side not to lose hope despite a 4-1 humbling by Manchester City at the Etihad.
Having led most of the season, Arsenal have watched the Premier League title slip away from their hands in the last few games. They have now gone for four games without a win after winning all their games in March.
A 4-1 away defeat by defending champions Manchester City, courtesy of a Kevin De Bruyne double and a Stones and Haaland goal, saw Arsenal lose momentum. Rob Holding’s goal just seemed to be a consolation.
Arsenal are yet to keep a clean sheet since William Saliba was taken off in the first half of their defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
However, Mikel Arteta is aware that the title chase is not over just yet and has told his side not to lose sight of
“There are five games to go, and anything can happen. I’ve seen a lot of things happen in more than 20 years, and you have to believe that,” he said.
“Today is very difficult after the way we lost, but we have to stand up and look at the bigger picture, and the fact that we’re competing toe-to-toe with this team is incredible,” he said.
The fixtures do not get easier from here, as they are still to face off against Brighton, Newcastle, and Chelsea.
