Four Confirmed Dead After Family Of Six Gets Poisoned
Sadness and grief filled the Ngole Village in Buyende District after a family of six people was poisoned, leaving four of them dead.
It is said that the incident happened on Saturday evening when an unknown person poisoned the tea that the family including the mother, her four children and their housemaid had for supper.
It is said that the housemaid who sleeps in the quarters woke up on Sunday morning and tried to wake the family up but in vain. When she finally opened the door, she discovered that the mother, Julia Nansamba, 39, together with her daughter Sharifa, 6, were already dead in their beds.
Two other children Swaiba, 8 and Shairat, 10, who were found in terrible shape, were rushed to a hospital in Irundu by fast responders. Due to their severe conditions, they were referred to Kamuli Mission Hospital, Kamuli. Two more children were pronounced dead on Monday bringing the total to four.
By the time of her death, Nansamba was staying alone with her children after leaving her marital home eight years back. She died with three of her children, leaving the neighbors question how the maid and one child were not affected by the poison.
According to the Busoga North Police spokesperson, ASP Kasadha Michael, Nansamba had left work at 8:30 PM with milk tea that she gave to her maid to warm for supper. The family of six reportedly took the milk that killed four, leaving two unharmed apart from the slight stomach aches.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kamuli Hospital for postmortem to find out the cause of death.
