DPP Garners Orders To Have Mackenzie Detained For More Days
Nordin Hajji, director of public prosecutions has obtained custodial orders to continue detaining controversial pastor
Paul Mackenzie who is responsible for the shakahola massacre.
Mackenzie is accused of misleading his followers into fasting and eventually starving to death with false hope of meeting jesus.
In a statement dated Tuesday, April 25,Haji said that preliminary investigations indicate that the preacher committed serious crimes including but not limited to murder , terrorism and radicalisation.
Haji noted that investigations are ongoing and charges will be made entirely based on evidence and meanwhile directed investigation officers to identify the suspects possessions with the aim to preserve, confiscate and forfeit in accordance with the law.
The DPP has vowed to ensure that justice is served to the victims who died in the cult as he condoled with their families.
