Father Arrested For Selling His Child To Witchdoctor
Police in Kiwoko, Nakaseke District have in custody a man who gave his child to a witchdoctor to be sacrificed in exchange for Ush 30 Million.
Kikomeko Samuel, 39, a resident of Kasana, Luwero District was arrested by police after visiting Ssuna Musitapha’s shrine in Lumpeewe, Nakaseke to sell his one and a half year old son, Joshua Mulunji.
Ssuna reported the matter to police after he saw that the suspect was determined to have his son killed for money and even when he did not take the deal, he would still carry it out with some other traditionalist. After being tipped off, police swiftly arrested Kikomeko before he could go on with the plans.
Speaking after his arrest, Kikomeko revealed that he needed the money to settle a debt of Ush 6 Million that he had acquired to buy beans for sale. He claimed that he had no means of paying back and the person who had loaned him the money wanted to take him to prison.
According to Nabatanzi, the toddler’s mother, she was not aware of the husband’s plot to have their son exchanged for money.
Confirming the incident, Wandulu Eric OC Kiwoko police revealed that further investigations into the matter are ongoing as the suspect is being kept behind bars.
The act of human sacrifice/ ritual killings is on the rise in Uganda. It involves cutting off body parts like facial features and genitals and using them in ceremonies. Children are the most common victims of such offenses where people believe that they will attain wealth.
