Police Search For Sheikh Who Beat One Of His Students To Death
Police in Kasese District are in search of a Sheikh who allegedly beat to death one of his students severely over theft allegations.
The incident happened yesterday at Mpondwe, Lhubiriha Town Council where Sheikh Mwahayisini beat up a 20 year old victim whose identity has been concealed by the police.
According to the village chairperson Mapoze Selevest, the victim was accused of stealing a mobile phone belonging to his teacher, Mwahayisini during his routine classes at the Quran center. He allegedly tied his hands and legs and started hitting him hard.
The victim is said to have requested for another form of punishment but the Sheikh did not stop beating him even after he claimed that he suffered from sickle cells.
When the victim’s father got to know about the incident, he quickly rushed his son to Kagando Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The tragic incident was confirmed by the Rwenzori East Regional police spokesperson, Tumushime Nelson. The suspect is currently on the run but police have launched an active investigation to see him arrested and brought to justice.
“We call upon the general public to provide any clues that could lead to Sheikh Mwahayisini’s arrest,” he said.
