Rafael Nadal has revealed that he will miss next week’s Madrid Masters as he is focused on recuperating from hamstring injury he suffered in Melbourne posing a big blow to his French Open Operations.

In an Instagram post, Nadal said; “For the moment I’ve witnessed Monte Carlo and Barcelona. And unfortunately I won’t be able to be in Madrid either. The injury still hasn’t healed. In principle it was supposed to be a recovery period of six to eight weeks and now we’re around 14.”

Nadal, 36, has been out of the pitch after losing in the second round of the Australian Open in January.

As much as he hopes for a record-extending 15th French Open title at Roland Garros in May although the injury he sustained could lock him out of the tournament.

“The reality is that the situation is not what would have hoped for. All medical indications have been followed, but the healing has not gone as they told us initially and we find ourselves in a difficult situation,” he stated.

He also disclosed that his team has opted to try another treatment to see if there will be changes adding that that does not guarantee the time for his comeback.

“I can’t work on what I need to compete. I was training but a few days ago we decided to change course a bit, to try to get to what comes next. I can’t give deadlines because if I knew I would tell you, but I don’t know. This is how things are,” he said.

Nadal’s series of injuries began after he won his 14th French Open Crown in 2022. At Wimbledon last summer, he was forced to withdraw from his Semi-finals due to abdominal injuries.
