AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda Contest FKF Harsh Sanctions

AFC Leopards has strongly contested the ruling delivered by the Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Committee regarding the abandoned Ingo Derby, against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The FKF Committee on Wednesday meted a harsh penalties to Ingwe which included 3 points deduction and playing 5 home game behind doors.

And in the contrary awarded Homeboyz 3 points and 2 goals following the act of hooliganism Leopards fans caused that led to aborted match in Bukhungu stadium a fortnight ago.

In response to the heavy sanctions imposed on the club, Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda, without mincing his words, said the move by the committee was unfair and against the spirit of fair play in the game.

“AFC Leopards feels that FKF decision was unfair, and against the spirit of fair play in football. As football club, we have always prioritised fair play and sportsmanship. We expect a fair and impartial hearing when team’s interests are at stake, and we believe that the decision of the FKF League and Competitions Committee in this case has failed to meet these expectations,” said shikanda

Shikanda, though condemning with the strongest term the act of hooliganism witnessed which heavily affected the match officials, has squarely blamed Homeboyz for failing to provide adequate security and further, went on to tear on centre referee Michael Obuya for ‘’poor officiating skills’’

Other sanction given to AFC Leopards SC is to ensure they cater or refund for incurred medical costs by the Center Referee Mr. Michael Obuya and on top of that pay a fine of 500,00 to the federation.
