Prisoner Kills Fellow Inmate After Altercation

A female inmate at Luzira Maximum Prison killed a fellow prisoner following a misunderstanding.
It is reported that 37-year-old Bainomugisha Joan murdered 77-year-old Aguti Zainabu following an altercation that came up as they were cleaning flowers around their ward. It is alleged that Bainomugisha hit Aguti on the head with a hoe and she succumbed to injuries at the prison hospital.
The news was confirmed by Uganda Police spokesperson Baine Frank who also revealed that Bainomugisha prisoner LWP169/20 was currently serving 19 years and 6 months on charges of murder at the time of the incident.
Aguti’s murder becomes Bainomugisha’s second murder case while behind bars. In 2020, Aguti murdered Nyesigire Betty who was taking care of her as she was isolated as a result of a mental disorder at Masindi Prison.
Betty’s body was discovered by wardens in a pool of blood inside Bainomugisha’s room after she hit her with a blunt object. She was then transferred to Luzira Maximum Prison for better management.
