Officer Who died In Kisumu Protests Was Run Over By Police Vehicle
Ben Oduor, a police officer who died during anti-Government demos in Kisumu was seemingly hit and ran over by a police vehicle contradicting earlier reports of being hit by a stone.
Police reported that the deceased was hit by a stone from angry protestors who were using a catapult and two suspects had been arrested over the same.
However according to a confidential source who spoke to NTV, the deceased together with his fellows were rushing back to the police station to get more teargas after being overwhelmed by protesters.
The source reports that Ben Oduor while rushing to board the police vehicle, missed a step and was hit and ran over by the vehicle.
The officers however did not take him with them but instead ran to the station for the teargas.
“Alikimbia kuingia kwa gari mbele, gari ilikua imetoka so everybody was following the vehicle. So Ben akienda kuboard mbelee, he missed a step akaangunka. Right leg ikaingia chini ya gari, gari ikampita juu,” the source told NTV.
Post Morterm conducted seen by the station also concur with the source’s revelation as Oduor was found with broken hip borne and leg.
A family member also revealed to NTV that Oduor’s phone which was in his pocket was broken and shattered.
The sources revelation, post mortem results and family statements leave queries of whether a stone would shatter the officer’s leg, hip borne and break the phone.
