HIV+ Man Remanded For Allegedly Defiling His Grandchildren

City Hall Court remanded a 62-year-old man who is reported to be living with HIV to Luzira Prison for allegedly defiling his three grandchildren.
Zingo Iddi Muhammuddu who appeared before Grade One Magistrate Tibagonzeka Jane was charged for aggravated defilement of the three victims aged three, six and nine years.
According to prosecution, the accused sexually assaulted the minors between the period of march 2020 and 2022, fully aware that he was HIV positive. The children’s relatives reported the cases to Kira Police.
The accused was not allowed to take a plea because according to the magistrate, her court does not have powers to handle the charges. He will instead be tried in the High Court which handles capital offenses.
Meanwhile, Muhammuddu was ordered to stay on remand as the police continue with the investigations but was advised to apply for bail if he wishes.
