Fresh Graduate Commits Suicide Inside Church
Police in Rwampara District, Western Uganda have confirmed the death of a fresh graduate after they discovered her body hanging in a church.
The deceased was identified as Nagasha Flavia, a 24-year-old graduated from Makerere University in Kampala is suspected of having committed suicide inside Karagama Daystar Church. Church authorities revealed that the body was found at around 4:00 PM by a local who was seeking shelter from the heavy rains that day.
According to a close friend who preferred to stay anonymous, Flavia failed to make it to her graduation day as she was suffering from mental illness and regularly sought exorcism. Nagasha’s sister, Nimusiima Phionah confirmed the story stating that the family had visited a number of Pentecostal churches seeking to save her life but none of them seemed to solve the problem.
Nagasha became sick after examinations at Makerere University. Doctors told us she had a mental problem and she has been on treatment. Two days ago she was fine until yesterday when she was found dead,” a family member noted.
Before her death, sources reveal that Nagasha had been visiting this particular church for the past two months for prayers. She allegedly hung herself with the same rope that the church leaders had used to tie her up for the exorcism.
“Nagasha climbed drums to suspend her body on the roof in the middle of the church where her deceased mother usually led her for prayers,” Rwampara OC/CID Arinaitwe Claire revealed.
The body of the deceased was given to her family members for burial.
