Two Arrested For Pickpocketing Mourners At Burial Ceremony
Police in Hoima District arrested two men for pickpocketing mourners at the recent burial ceremony of the LCV chairperson, Kiungi Kadiri who died in a terrible accident along Hoima-Kampala road on 17th March, 2023.
According to the police spokesperson for Albertine region, Hakiza Julius, the first suspect Kiiza Kassim, 25, was nabbed after a woman who was among the mourners sounded an alarm that tipped off fellow mourners. They quickly arrested him and surrendered him to the police. Kyomuhendo Francis,22 was also arrested a few minutes later trying to steal someone else’s money.
The attendees tried to lynch the suspects in both cases but were luckily stopped by police on ground who took them to custody.
At the same burial, police also reported a missing car belonging to one David Irumba who had also attended the event. He reportedly parked his car at the designated parking lot and when he returned after the burial, the car was missing.
Hakiza revealed that the police flying squad had been dispatched to track the unknown car thieves and bring them to book.
